Flexible Portable Eurorack Systems - Matttech Modular 30/10/15

US A workshop for beginners and verterans alike      09/10/15

First up we have Matt Preston's take on a flexible portable modular system. At 3u this machine combines east coast, west coast, digital and analogue modules. A true Frankensynth! Exactly what a modular should be.

"Planning the “perfect” small modular system – always a big challenge! It all startswith a decision on what your goals are, and what other gear will be interfacing with it. For the upcoming workshop I already knew I would be using a separate sequencer (Korg SQ1), and be able to receive triggers/ clocks/ random patterns from DivKid’s drum/ percussion rig – whilst Matt Shaw was going to take care of the more abstract/ textural elements. My job was to put together a really flexible synth voice. I have considered: ergonomics and logical layout; the ability to be split into multiple voices; multi-functionality; speed of patch creation; compatibility; plus sonic richness and tonal variety. I could go on, but luckily Edd limited me to 150 words. Just time to say that this could all change again, due to the slew of mental products arriving between now and the event! 150 words"
