Many established artists started life on trackers; Calvin Harris and Infected Mushroom are notable examples. They're still popular today, with the likes of Renoise to host VSTs and play samples. As yet unreleased, the M8 looks set to be a portable tracker for those who take it seriously. It comes with a sizable price tag but does look gorgeous as is loaded with features. 

The portable tracker sequencer and synthesizer M8 is powered by the Teensy micro-controller and inspired with love from the renowned Gameboy tracker Little Sound DJ. Featuring 8 tracks of freely assignable instruments capable of a wide range of sounds including waveform synthesis, FM, virtual analog, sample playback, and MIDI output.
