Akai's MPK Mini Play - New $129 Mini Synth

Controller, pads, sounds and a speaker      16/10/18

It seems everyone is looking to create tiny, portable synths these days, Akai's new MPK Mini is just that. It initially just looks like a mini MIDI controller with two octaves, 8 pads, an assortment of buttons, a joystick and 6 knobs, but you also get 128 on board sounds, including 10 drum kits, plus a mini speaker.

Akai MPK Mini PLay

Its like the MPK Mini which proved popular according to Akai, so the next step was to add some sounds, for a little portable instrument that can do more.

We don't know what the polyphony is for this, but an extra sound source is always handy, and the USB connection we believe is just for MIDI. But for this price it would seem churlish to complain.

Akai MPK Mini Play is available now priced at $129.
