Numerical Audio has announced the release of VOLT, which they describe as a polyphonic synthesizer with special focus on expression. This is the story in their own words...
Designed to deliver classic synth sounds from the late 70s and early 80s, VOLT at it's heart is comprised of up to 8 virtual analog synth voices each including one continuously variable wave oscillator, detunable sub, noise source, SEM style filter, advanced LFO, distortion & 2 ADSR envelopes followed by a total of 3 master effect units.
Being centered around expression, VOLT was built with multidimensional polyphonic expression (MPE) in mind and supports all ROLI products as well as other MPE compatible devices out of the box. Great care has been taken to craft a deliberately simple user interface taking design cues from real hardware to create a enjoyable and easy to use experience while providing just the right amount of control to enable a wide variety of timbres and sounds without overwhelming the player. With a factory bank of more than 100 expressive presets grouped in categories ranging from soaring Leads over swelling Pads to rhythmic Sequences, VOLT is a joy to play.
What's more, VOLT supports the Audio Unit V3 standard making it possible to load multiple instances into any DAW that supports AUv3. In addition, Audiobus 3, Interapp-Audio, USB Audio/MIDI, Bluetooth MIDI and Ableton Link are all supported as well making VOLT a perfect fit for almost any setup.
