Groove Synthesis 3rd Wave OS 2.0a Adds Shimmer Reverb

US And Spectral Mode -its free...      25/08/26

Groove Synthesis continues to tweak and improve its instruments and have released OS 2.0a for all three 3rd Wave models, and it's a free download for existing owners.

First up there's now a Shimmer Reverb, living in effect slot 2 after Super Plate. The idea isn't new, but the implementation gives you plenty of control: Rev Time, Pitch Amount, and LP/HP Cutoff are all available as modulation matrix destinations. Groove says it sounds great without harshness or the need for EQ, and a single sustained note can be spread out and up.

The Make Waves wavetable editor also gains a third mode: Spectral. It's aimed at chorused sounds, ambient recordings, and anything with wandering pitch - feed it something strange and it will try to find the wavetable hiding inside.

Elsewhere in 2.0a there are expanded MIDI CC mappings, a new envelope retrigger option, and a batch of bug fixes. The update also completes the SysEx work needed to control and manage the 3rd Wave from outside the instrument, which paves the way for third-party tools and a companion software editor from Groove Synthesis itself. They're looking for early adopters to test it in the coming weeks.

OS 2.0a is a free download. More details in the release notes on the Groove Synthesis site.
