We had a chat with Finn from Future Sound Systems at Superbooth 2026 who introduced us to their latest synthesizer developments. Finn told us that they have released a grayscale edition of the Cric, maintaining the same synthesis engine but with a new aesthetic--white panels and grayscale accents, barring the red LEDs--evoking a science lab vibe reminiscent of classic Oberheim designs.
Combining classic synthesis with new features, the Cric remains consistent in its recombination and filtering capabilities. Additionally, Future Sound Systems introduced the CFG ENV1 a dual envelope generator designed for Eurorack setups. Featuring customizable attack and decay shapes, it delivers distinct exponential and logarithmic slopes, crafted more by ear than mathematical precision, to evoke vintage-style kick drums and noise.
The CFG ENV1 is immediately available at £279, and the Cric's grayscale edition is set for release at £2,899. For those invested in a Eurorack setup, these modules can create a compelling synthesis voice approximating the Cric's notable sound, offering a highly engaging experience.
