The Best Sampler You've Never Heard Of

US Hainbach investigates the Vestax FaderBoard      02/12/21

Samplers have been around for a long time now, with pretty formulaic structures and modes of playback - but Hainbach is here to show a machine which does it differently. The Vestax Faderboard was released in 2005 and features 30 seconds of sample storage - nothing special, but what's most notable is the technique of playing back the samples: using faders!

The Faderboard was made as a co-operation between Vestax and Korg, and was the brainchild of DJ Shing02. It has start and end point sliders for that sampler feature which has graced many an IDM drum beat - it even has some on board effects. It's a very innovative box which must have passed a lot of people by upon it's release. Luckily we have Hainbach around to unearth such beauties.
