All-In-One USB Microphone

ESI has launched cosMik uCast which they describe as a USB microphone with powerful software bundle for creatives. Here's the details in their own words..

With cosMik uCast, you only need 3 more things to start your career as a podcaster, YouTuber or Twitch streamer: An idea, a pair of headphones and a computer. Everything else is already included with ESI's new high-quality cardioid condenser USB-microphone: setup accessories, a powerful recording bundle, and a feature to integrate external sound sources.

cosMik uCast offers USB-C connectivity, integrated headphone monitoring, and user-friendly buttons on the front of the microphone to adjust Input Gain and Output Volume seamlessly. The mute button can be used to mute your own voice while still hearing the computer signal.

With the table stand, the microphone can be easily placed on the table and connected to the computer via one of the included USB cables (USB 2.0 and USB-C, 2m each).

cosMik uCast comes with a high-quality software package, full of state-of-the-art recording programs. So everyone will find the right tool for their professional workflow, beginners as well as recording experts.

Windows users can also enjoy the trusted DirectWIRE technology, which allows external sound sources (music, interviews or even sounds such as applause or laughter) to be integrated into their own stream. Mac users, on the other hand, benefit from the plug & play experience. And on top, you can record wherever you are with Cubasis LE for iPad and iPhone.

Powerful software package included:

  • WaveLab LE, an easy-to-use audio editing and mastering software that lets you analyze, edit, optimize and publish your recordings.
  • Cubasis LE, the compact version of Steinberg's optimized multi touch sequencer for iPad and iPhone, offering the same look and feel as its big brother Cubasis.
  • Bitwig Studio 8-Track, a trim and effective DAW to start producing, performing, and designing sounds like a pro for use on up to eight tracks of audio / MIDI, incl. the Bitwig Essentials Package, a versatile selection of handpicked presets and sounds.
  • inTone 2 ESI Edition by Audified, a powerful jamming tool to produce mixes of multiple audio signals and instruments, play files, change tracks, prepare streams for podcasts and recordings.

ASIO driver for ultra-low latency
Currently cosMik uCast is the only USB microphone on the market offering a high quality ASIO driver, based on ESI's own EWDM technology. This ensures ultra-low latency and is also the basis for the DirectWIRE feature, which is only and exclusively included with ESI hardware.
DirectWIRE allows you to integrate external sound sources. Moreover, you can run your own voice through a DAW and change it in the process (e.g. add reverb or other effects). When it comes to live streaming applications, the technology helps to avoid feedback. By using the DirectWIRE virtual channels, it is possible to separate the signal that is being played out on the monitors from the streamed signal. Mixing and feedback can thus be eliminated completely.
