ProgStock Announces Moogvember

US Upcoming series of concerts and events will benefit the Bob Moog Foundation 30/10/20

The ProgStock Presents Virtual Series has announced an upcoming series of concerts and events, Moogvember, which will benefit the Bob Moog Foundation. They tell us that Moogvember will span all four Saturdays in November, and will feature acclaimed artists Adam Holzman, Larry Fast (with Erik Norlander), The Ryo Okumoto Project, Jordan Rudess and Tom Brislin. Shows begin at 4pm and end at 10pm Eastern Daylight Time.

Tickets will be sold through the StageIt platform, where attendees can also leave tips for the artists during the performances and other events. Tickets range between $4-$10 USD. A portion of the proceeds from each concert will be donated to the Bob Moog Foundation to benefit their educational and archive preservation efforts, including the new Moogseum, which was closed for five months due to the pandemic.

ADAM HOLZMAN

Keyboard player Adam Holzman was a member of the Miles Davis Band from 1985 to 1989. He performed with the trumpet legend in more than 200 concerts worldwide. In 1988 he became Miles's musical director. For his session and live performances, Adam was praised by the New York Times for his "innovative keyboard work," and by Keyboard Magazine as "one of the most promising synth soloists."

Adam has also toured and recorded extensively with Grover Washington, Jr., Wayne Shorter, Chaka Khan, Steps Ahead, Wallace Roney, Michel Petrucciani and many others. He currently tours and records with British rocker Steven Wilson.

LARRY FAST

Larry Fast is best known for his series of pioneering electronic music albums recorded under the project name SYNERGY. He is also known for his work with Peter Gabriel; playing synthesizer on records and on tour and rounding out the production team on many of Peter's albums for nearly a decade.

Starting with the first SYNERGY album, "Electronic Realizations for Rock Orchestra" recorded in 1975, and through the most recent SYNERGY releases, Larry's albums of electronic music have been on the cutting edge of studio production techniques and the development of new music technologies. Respect for the music composition and arrangements heard on the SYNERGY albums have led to wide-ranging work with a variety of artists in many styles over the years.

Larry will be interviewed by synthesizer maestro Erik Norlander for this event.

RYO OKUMOTO

Ryo Okumoto is best known for his tenure as the flamboyant keyboard player in Spock's Beard. His career also includes performances with artists like Peabo Bryson, Phil Collins, Aretha Franklin, Kitaro, and of course the various projects of Spock's Beard members.

Ryo regularly performs live with his band "The Ryo Okumoto Project", which features a rotating cast of world-class musicians from around the world.

JORDAN RUDESS

Voted "Best Keyboardist of All Time" by Music Radar Magazine, Jordan Rudess is best known as the keyboardist/multi-instrumentalist extraordinaire for platinum-selling Grammy-nominated prog rock band, Dream Theater. A classical prodigy who began his studies at the Juilliard School of Music at the age of 10, Jordan's music is a unique blend of classical and rock influences.

In addition to playing in Dream Theater and Liquid Tension Experiment, Jordan has worked with a wide range of artists including Deep Purple, David Bowie, Steven Wilson, Jan Hammer, Enrique Iglesias, the Paul Winter Consort, Annie Haslam, LMR(his side project with Tony Levin and Marco Minneman), Blackfield, Aviv Geffen, the Dixie Dregs, Rod Morgenstein and Tony Williams among others. Jordan will be performing a unique set on his Minimoog and other keyboards for these events.

TOM BRISLIN

Tom Brislin has performed on tour and on recordings for several of the biggest names in classic rock, including Yes, Meat Loaf, and Debbie Harry of Blondie. In 2019, Tom joined the legendary Kansas as the group's keyboardist/backing vocalist. Tom is also a member of the progressive rock group The Sea Within, which features top musicians Roine Stolt (Flower Kings), Jonas Reingold (Steve Hackett Band), Daniel Gildenlöw (Pain of Salvation), Marco Minnemann (Steven Wilson), and Casey McPherson (Flying Colors).

Tom wrote, performed, and produced the critically admired album Hurry Up and Smell the Roses in 2012. Prior to his solo work, Tom was the songwriter, musical director, and producer of the band Spiraling. The group released four albums, two EPs, and toured the US in support of groups such as OK Go, They Might Be Giants, and Violent Femmes.

Tom is also one of the writers of the new album by Kansas, The Absence of Presence.
