We're probably all aware of the EMS VC3 - the rather scientific looking synth from the 1960's UK manufacturer EMS. Did you know that a VC4 was in development, but never saw production?
No, us neither. The good news is that a prototype has been lovingly brought to life by Digitana - who make units that interface with the EMS product as well as the Synthi Hi-Fli (which is made under license from EMS).
Over the past 6 months I have been helping with the restoration of the E.M.S 'VCS4' prototype acquired by Goldsmiths College, University of London Electronic Music Studios. This is a unique instrument, designed by David Cockerell around 1969/70. There will be a special 1 day event held on the 19th Match at Goldsmiths College.
And whats more, you can enjoy some time in the company of the VC4 at Goldsmiths College London on Thursday 19th March between 10am and 5pm at Goldsmiths Music College.
Tickets are free but wou will need to apply: https://www.eventbrite.co.uk/e/vcs4-day-tickets-97305045009
