Cranborne Audio Interfaces Ship

Cranborne Audio and UK distributor Sound Technology Ltd have announced immediate availability of the new 500R8 and 500ADAT racks. Here's the details in their own words...

500R8 is the centrepiece of the modern studio. It's a 28-in/30-out USB audio interface that combines a 500 series rack with high-performance AD/DA conversion and all of the connectivity required in the modern professional or home studio. 500R8 features all the studio essentials that you need to build your dream studio such as an 8-into-2 high-headroom analogue summing mixer, comprehensive monitor controller with talkback facility, 16-in/16-out ADAT interface, as well as a zero-latency analogue artist mixer with reference-quality, high-powered headphone outputs.

500ADAT is the perfect tool to increase the I/O count of any ADAT-equipped audio interface. It's an 8-in/8-out ADAT expander that combines a 500 series rack with high-performance AD/DA conversion and ADAT I/O. This allows easy integration of the 500 series format into any studio setup using the ADAT I/O on the back of many popular audio interfaces. 500ADAT features analogue essentials that unite digital and analogue production workflows such as an 8-into-2 analogue summing mixer, zero-latency artist mixer with 2 reference-quality headphone outputs, and true ADAT & SMUXII/IV transmission to enable operation at sample rates up to 192kHz.

Whilst 500R8 and 500ADAT boast much of the same extraordinary technical performance, they are each designed to satisfy two different types of users.

500R8 is primarily designed for musicians, engineers, and producers wishing to upgrade/replace their existing audio interface and build their studio around the 500 series format, creating the dream analogue/digital hybrid studio. 500R8 connects directly to a PC/Mac via USB to record 28 and playback 30 channels of audio. 500R8 is also the perfect tool for mobile recording, as each 500 series slot can be completely configured and customised to suit the requirements of the recording session.

500ADAT was designed for users who love their current audio interface but are looking to expand their studio connectivity and branch-out into the 500 series format. With all major audio interfaces on the market featuring ADAT connectivity that is often under-utilised, 500ADAT connects directly to unused ADAT ports and increases the I/O count of the system, whilst seamlessly integrating the 500 series format into the user’s workflow. 500ADAT is the perfect companion to any engineer/musician who uses audio interfaces from Universal Audio, Apogee, RME, Focusrite, Audient, and many more.

500R8 and 500ADAT can also be connected together to create an integrated analogue/digital hybrid system capable of utilising all 16 available 500 series slots during recording, mixing, and summing.
