This range of drives was announced at the recent Mac Expo in Paris and is geared towards Mac users in so much that they are of the Mac style (Tower and MacMini) and come pre-formatted for the Mac OS. The new 1.5TB UltraMax Pro Desktop HD has two hot-swappable SATA-II hard drives, with support for RAID 0, RAID 1, and JBOD. Connections are: FireWire 400 and 800, and USB 2.0 interfaces along with cables for each connection. The quad interface UltraMax Desktop HD comes as 500GB or 750GB, with eSATA, FireWire 400 + 800, plus USB 2.0 ports. Cables are included. The 500GB model is US$219.95, wit the 750GB at $319.95. A 500GB version with FireWire 400 and USB 2.0 ports only will also available for $189.95. For the Mac Mini owner, the 750GB MiniMax drive blends perfectly and includes a built-in three-port USB 2.0 hub and 3-port FireWire 400 hub. With a stackable design helps keep the footprint down, there’s also a USB 2.0 only 500GB version available at $179.99The 705GB MiniMax is priced at $319.99, and the 500GB USB-only model costs $179.95. All drives come with EMC Retrospect Express backup software. Users can back up open files, verify backup integrity during the backup, have scheduled backups proceed even without logging in, and recover individual files or a complete system to any point in time.
