Looks like teenie personal data storage is the new trend, with Iomega following on after Lacie announced their 4 + 8GB Carte Orange recently. Iomega’s new Micro Mini models come in 4 and 8GB sizes too and use a USB 2.0 interface with internal 4200RPM mechanisms – maybe they shop at the same stores as Lacie? The new drives are bus powered with a blue status LED and also feature ‘drop shock’ - which means the sensitive internals self-protect when the drive is knocked around. The new drives are also credit-card sized and come with a folding USB connector to remove the need for any extra cables. Iomega will ship the drives with software for Windows and OS X - which will include Iomega’s Automatic Backup. Apparently although you cant find them on Iomegas site, the new drives are shipping now and will retail at $129.95 (4GB) and $169.95 (8GB)
