Youtuber & Retrocast Alumni, Anders Enger Jensen has launched a brand new Youtube series called "Mix & Match Challenge":
This is episode 01 of my Mix & Match Challenge, a series where I draw a synthesizer and a TV-series from the 80s and 90s, and have to recreate the song on this particular synth. I have gathered 50 of my synths, modules and samplers and picked 50 iconic and maybe some lesser known TV-series with great theme songs. In each episode I'll take you through the process and show how it was done before playing the final song.
Now, when I first started recording this series, it was back in fall of 2021. I quickly discovered that doing every step from A to Z each time would take forever. I spent about two weeks on the first episode. I had to streamline the process more, and the part that took the longest time, was to tempo map, arrange and record the temp tracks so that I had the data ready to be used with each of the individual synthesizer in my collection. So that's what I spent the past four years going back and forth between this project, other songs, work and family matters like my dad passing away. So it's been just about seven months of dedicated work, spread over these past years, before I could really sit down and shoot the actual video – which now was a much simpler process.
These first two episodes will show the process in greater detail, before I'll keep it simpler and more straight to the point, after all, you don't want to watch 50 episodes of the same process for each song that took days and weeks to complete before I could start filming. The fun part is to mix and match these instruments and songs and see what comes out at the other end.
All songs and MIDI-files of the arrangements will be available on Patreon, BandCamp. The songs will also be available (where possible due to potential copyright claims) on SoundCloud and Subvert. I will not be able to distribute them on the other major streaming services for this reason as it stands.
We wish Anders the best of luck with this imaginative new project and PS, if you listen closely, you might hear a familiar voice singing the theme song ;)
