The live performance world pretty much runs on wireless audio technology in one capacity or another, whether it's radio packs for guitars, instruments, in-ears or crew comms, but it's almost literally an unseen world to many of us. RTX is a Danish company working behind a range of wireless audio products, covering encoding, transmission and system integration - we spoke to Robin from RTX at Music China 2026 about RTX wireless technology including the company's Team Engage and ShareLink platforms.
The update here is its work in China, where RTX combines local design houses, OEM partners and pro audio engineering resources. The system can now use a Chinese single-chip SoC option, rather than the earlier Danish module based around Nordic and analogue chipsets. That single chip handles both audio processing and wireless transmission.
The technology supports mono and stereo operation, with multichannel work dependent on the application, channel count and formats such as 24-bit audio. Frequency support includes 2.4GHz and 1.9GHz, with 5GHz in development. Typical 2.4GHz range is around 30 to 50 metres, while 1.9GHz reaches up to 500 metres. Mono one-to-one transmission can reach latency as low as 1.7ms.
A relay-based technology is also in development, allowing even greater ranges.
