FlickSwitch Audio Launches Glacier

FlickSwitch Audio has released Glacier, a delay and reverb plugin that they describe as a new space designer with Freeze, Shimmer and Chill controls.

Daniel Nesci, co-founder of the company told us, "We're excited for this, our first standalone effect and our second plugin of the year. Glacier lets you grab a moment, make it really beautiful and turn it into its own part. Play with automation, built a whole part or just add some character to a part that needs a little something extra."

Here's more details...

A tempo-syncable stereo or ping-pong delay and a dense Hall or Shimmer reverb run in series, in either order, and four global controls shape both at once: Chill, Dispersion, Duck and Freeze.

Freeze holds the current delay and reverb sound indefinitely while the dry signal keeps passing through, turning a chord, a vocal phrase or a drum hit into a pad, a tail or a wash that keeps moving. Glacier is built for the moments that give a track its atmosphere.

• Freeze: holds the delay and reverb loops indefinitely with a short fade in and out. Chill, Dispersion, Duck and Mix still shape the frozen sound.
• Shimmer reverb: a dense reverb with Hall and Shimmer types. Shimmer regenerates an octave up, and the amount rises with Depth. Decay runs from 20 ms to 10 seconds.
• Delay with pitch: stereo or ping-pong delay from 0 to 2000 ms or locked to host tempo, with a ±12 semitone pitch shifter on its output. Repeats stay on time because the shift is latency-compensated.
• Chill: brightens the wet signal for glassier, more crystalline repeats and tails, without changing decay time.
• Dispersion: smears, chorus-widens and spreads the repeats, and sweeps the reverb from narrow to extra wide.
• Duck: pulls the wet signal down while you play so it blooms back in the gaps.
• Routing and latency: put the delay before or after the reverb. Glacier adds zero latency to the dry signal.
• Formats: VST3, AU and AAX on macOS and Windows.
