Beijing 26: Meng Qi shows latest Wing Pinger

US Follow-up to Wingie - gonna be another hit, probably      25/10/26

Meng Qi from Meng Qi Music gave us a look at Wing Pinger, the new handheld version of the resonant analogue instrument. He explained that the earlier 2019 version used a larger wooden enclosure - the new version has a smaller metal enclosure with a touchscreen/keyboard.

Wing Pinger uses two analogue resonating filters which can ping each other through logic circuits including a shift register, and they support direct frequency modulation. The touchscreen supports fast response, gesture control, latching and note panning. A Q envelope changes the response from pad-like to more percussive sounds. It also includes tape emulation, noise controls and an internal delay with the filters in the feedback loop.

Availability is expected around November or December, with pricing hopefully around a couple of hundred US dollars.
