Beijing 26: Rig Tour with Glenn Keteleer

US SOMA Pipe feeds the whole Rig      23/10/26

Nick chatted to to Glenn Keteleer (aka Linear Straight and Radical G) about his compact ambient performance rig, built around SOMA Pipe, & Warp, a Torso S-4 and SOMA Cosmos.

The setup starts with a mono output from the Pipe breakout box into Warp, which has a new firmware release that lets the sample rate run at 24kHz instead of 48kHz, giving more CPU headroom and longer reverb times.

The signal then runs in stereo to the Torso S-4. The S-4 weighs under one kilogram (great for flying with!) and includes four loopers, granular processing, distortion, delay and reverb. From there, the rig feeds Soma Cosmos. Cosmos runs pitched firmware, and with the drive control fully wet it can take material down by an octave.

As the whole performance comes from Pipe, with no additional sound sources, the setup remains improvisational rather than pre-arranged, and Glenn can respond on the fly.
