Sasha and Digweed are one of the most heralded DJ duos in electronic music, with a friendship lasting decades and a quality control for their collaborations which is second to none. Here they are exploring the tracks they selected for the 1996 Northern Exposure Mix, it's 1997 follow up, and 2000's Communicate. Talking about the production, selection and stories behind the tracks, it's a superb insight into their thought process on what is an iconic mix. Here's more...
Thirty years after the first Northern Exposure, Sasha & John Digweed pull out the original vinyl they used to mix the series, from Northern Exposure (1996) and Northern Exposure 2 (1997) to Expeditions (1999) and Communicate (2000), and play the records again one by one. They talk through where the records came from, from a white-label handed over in an Orlando car park to the Guerilla releases that went straight into the record box. They also cover how those long, hypnotic sets took shape at Twilo in New York, and why the compilations were never meant to be "progressive house albums" but one continuous journey, built from records that meant something to them. Every record in this video is the exact copy used on the original compilations. Filmed in New York ahead of Sasha & John Digweed's Knockdown Center show, September 2026. Video by David Lovas.
