Elektron Monomachine Emulated

US Monomodule Beta precedes free & open source release      18/09/26

The emulations march on! Here we have another emulated hardware unit, this time the heralded Elektron Monomachine! Monomodule Beta emulates the sound of one monophonic voice per track, with all on-board machines and effects included. It's currently available as a private Beta the full public release is said to be coming next week, and will be free and open source (according to developer shnolk, how has commented on the video).

This follows on from recent decomps and recomps in Bitwig, MAME emulation of classic synths, and work of teams like The Usual Suspects to convert classic synths to plugin formats. Access to hardware which has long since gone out of production (or is monumentally expensive) can only be a good thing for end users, the legalities of doing so is another thing entirely. Still, emulation is not letting up, and I only see it growing in the coming years - not just in music tech.
