Inside Studio Richter Mahr

Take a look round the collaborative studio space of Max Richter and visual artist Yulia Mahr - courtesy of Synthax UK. The video covers Max's beautiful workspace (and surrounding woodland) as well as his journey into contemporary classical and film composition, his career highlights and how RME's MADI solutions form the audio infrastructure at the studio. Max Richter is a contemporary classical composer who has worked on countless scores across film, dance, art and fashion. His minimal compositions, fusing classical instrumentation with electronic elements, have earned Max critical-acclaim and a huge number of fans worldwide. Studio Richter Mahr, a collaborative space shared with visual artist Yulia Mahr, brings Max's musical minimalism to life in a space that he refers to as "more human" than traditional recording studios.

Surrounded by woodland, SRM was designed to allow Max and other resident artists to simply focus on their art without the technology distracting from the process. The foundation of the studio setup – spanning a live room, control room, Max's writing room and a number of programming suites - is the RME HDSPe MADI FX card, which allows MADI streams to be passed from room to room across the facility seamlessly.

Within Max's writing room, RME 12Mic and M-32 Pro Converter units are hidden away out of sight, connecting his enviable collection of synthesisers.
