Superbooth 2026: Tubbutec Custom Controller

US Now you can design your own controller tailored to your needs      07/05/26

We met up with Tobias from Tubbutec at Superbooth 2026 who showed us their new customisable controllers.

This custom MIDI controller platform from Tubbutec focuses on flexibility and practicality rather than offering a fixed layout. Using the company's web-based Controller Designer, users can configure their own combination of faders, pots, buttons, and LEDs, then have the finished unit assembled to order. The system supports up to 25 LED-equipped faders, 12 rotary controls, multiple button and LED options, and a printed full-color front panel, allowing for fairly specific layouts without requiring DIY assembly.

The hardware itself is compact and straightforward, with a powder-coated metal enclosure and support for both USB MIDI and TRS-A MIDI connections. It can also function as a USB-to-TRS MIDI interface, which adds some utility in smaller setups. Internally, the controller supports up to four layers and includes flexible MIDI routing between USB, TRS MIDI, and controller data, making it adaptable to different workflows.

One of the more useful aspects of the system is that configuration changes are not permanent. MIDI assignments, LED behavior, and other settings can be edited later and uploaded directly to the controller via MIDI, so the hardware can evolve alongside a setup rather than remaining tied to a single purpose.

Tobias also showed us their new CPU upgrade for the TR606, offering new sounds and sequencer capabilities.

Price depends on how many elements you want to add to your controller, but Tobias told us it should be around 200 to 250 euros.
