SonicLAB: Michigan Synth Works MSW 820 Synth Voice

US 16 filter types!      13/04/26

Paulee takes a look at a  new Michigan Synth Works 820 which is a sequel to the MSW 810 which riffs on the features of the Roland CMU-800,  one of it's white box Computer Music desktop range from 1983/4 .
This is a Beta hardware unit which shows much of what the final model will have, but there are a few anticipated additions: primarily a third digital VCO.

This is a two VCO monosynth (soon to be three with the addition of that digital VCO) with noise, 2 envelopes, 1 LFO - but with the rather surprising inclusion of 16 VCF filter types - in analog - yes you did read that right.

Paulee takes a look at the unit and takes us through the 16 filter types.

The MSW-820 can be ordered direct from MSW for £386+VAT and shipping (+ duties)
We've seen it for £458 inc from online retailers.

Note: pre-order is closed - shipping starts April 2026
