25 years ago, Eurorack case options were fairly conventional. Our favourite aluminum panels were often housed in wooden or metal cases - perhaps orange Tolex if you were in a whimsical mood. But nowadays, anything goes - the result? Some truly inventive cases in a variety of shapes, sizes and materials, from low cost PLA and acrylic, to exotic woods, recycled materials and even Lego!
Dmitriy Churikov, the brains behind MDR.Modular: https://www.facebook.com/groups/403937676290574/ has created a number of eye-catching bespoke cases for his customers, let's take a look...
This two-tier case, our first example, features 6U of height for modules up top. The lower tier houses an Elta Solar 42 synthesizer, creating a compact experimental setup. In addition to the handy gooseneck lamp, the sides glow red! There's also an illuminated "solar eclipse" motif on the rear. "Solar 42 is a very inspiration music instrument!", said Dmitriy.

This white case features a unique (and practical!) folding design...I could definitely use this as the foundation for a compact live setup.

I'm a fan of acrylic (you might have seen my neon Bit by Bit Synths cases recently) - and Dmitriy has experimented with this material too - "I did experience with acrylic - beautiful, but this material isn't optimal for travel cases! But for the stage - yes." Here's a fairly striking picture of a completely transparent case:

Here are some more light-up sides, I believe they have pressed plants inside the panels too!

Finally, fans of Brutalism will appreciate these concrete side-panels - I really admire Dmitriy's "try anything" energy! Remember to check out https://www.facebook.com/groups/403937676290574/ and see you next time!
