Back in the day, Casio were one of the big beasts of contemporary music tech, with their CZ synths and FZ Samplers and let's not forget the classic SK-1 - one of the earliest affordable sampling keyboards, albeit with only a second or so of 8-bit memory.
At NAMM, Casio are previewing a new SAMPLER (as yet un-named). It's a handheld device with initial (not final) specs indicating 16 voices and of 16-bit linear 48kHz sampling in wav format.
With 16 samples in up to 10 banks. Memory is reported to be 64GB with stereo voices - possibly.
Casio may have noticed the extremely popular Roland SP-404 with its real-time FX and performance controls and are looking to get them some of that market share.
The design appears to have taken some inspiration from classic game controls with the four button and X cursor giving some classic Nintendo vibes.
There's very little additional information at this point, but we'll keep an eye on this.
