ASM Diosynth Wind Synth Instrument

US With Hydrasynth based engine + samples      20/11/25

While speculation of a new flagship synth from ASM continues to  bubble under, Ashun Sound Machines (ASM) has unveiled the Diosynth - a wind synthesizer designed to merge the expressive nuances of acoustic wind instruments with the sonic depth of their flagship Hydrasynth combined with a sample playback oscillator - with 128 waveform samples.

Wind controllers, air very well with synthesizers, with the dynamic control being suited for both amplitude and timbre modulation - if you've seen Will Gregory's Moog Ensemble, you'll understand. Given the increase in MPE based controllers which gives you more granular control over pitch and amplitude, this level of expression will be well suited to the synth engine or indeed to control external instruments or software.

Also fun fact, wind instruments sell very well - unlike most synths, which have an initial spike in sales, wind synths and controllers keep a steady level of sales - who knew? (ASM probably had an inkling).

DiosynthGlen Darcy, CEO of ASM is a sax player. It's also something that a lot of wind players are interested in due to the volume of practicing in the home, this can be played on headphones...

Hybrid Sound Engine

  • Based on the Hydrasynth's flexible architecture, Diosynth adds a sample playback oscillator to the mix.

  • Users can layer 4 Hydrasynth oscillators with 2 sample-based voices per patch.

  • Includes a 16-mode filter for deep tone shaping and modulation possibilities.

Extensive Instrument Library

  • 128 sampled instruments including the rare contrabass flute, Eb Tubax, and Peruvian llama whistle.

  • 384 factory patches, expandable to 768 user patches, spanning classic wind, modern synth leads, and ambient textures.

Designed for Wind Players Diosynth control

  • Mechanical key action mimics sax and other wind instruments, avoiding typical "button" interfaces.

  • Multiple fingering systems, key/scale locking, and 8-octave range support nuanced playability.

Expressive Controls

  • Breath and bite sensors, gyro, X/Y joystick, pressure pads, and assignable switches.

  • Built-in speaker and headphone output for standalone use.

Connectivity

  • USB-C powered or runs on two 18650 rechargeable batteries (not included).

  • MIDI DIN, USB MIDI/Audio, Bluetooth MIDI + audio-in.

  • Mac/PC and mobile editors included for deep editing and performance management.
