RC-505 Style Live Looping in Ableton

US Ableton Drummer's single button solution      01/10/25

The RC-505 is a fantastic hardware looper, and I've been on the hunt for a software equivilent for quite a while. Here we have the best of the best form Ableton Drummer, which provides all the functionality you need to replicate such a looping system inside Ableton Live. There's a handy blog post to help explain what's happening under the hood, but for my money this is a superb solution for those wanting the RC-505 experience inside Ableton. Max4Live is required...

  • record up to 10 layers / clips with one looper device
  • quick access to UNDO and CLEAR the recordings
  • record your whole live-loop performance and edit each layer individually afterwards
  • set up looping presets and controls and re-call those for different projects quick and easy
  • control audio and midi recordings via one looper device
