Bristronica 25: Playtronica Orbita

We had a chat with Aglaya from Playtronica, who showed us the Orbita, a novel mechanical sequencer.

Orbita features four MIDI tracks, each assignable to a synthesizer or any MIDI device. The device utilizes colors to represent pitch or samples, and each track can be muted or unmuted, allowing for dynamic compositions. The Orbita spins when you press play, enabling you to alter speeds and sequence drums using a drum rack if desired. The sequencer also records muting/unmuting patterns and speed changes, providing up to one minute of recorded sequences.

The Orbita can modify CC parameters like pitch using magnet sensors and a single-pixel RGB camera. Each magnet sends out a MIDI note according to its colour, allowing for inventive musical creation suitable for all ages.
Playtronica will release 400 more units by the end of November.

The Orbita is priced at 350 euros plus tax.
