Queen's Iconic Live Aid Show

US David Hartley's take & John Deacon Interview      24/09/25

The afternoon line up for Live Aid 1985 pulled very few punches (see below) so it's fascinating to learn about the story behind the scenes before Queen's iconic performance. In this video David Hartley covers the lead up to the event and how the band pulled off one of their most memorable shows, somewhat against the odds "Queen's Live Aid performance it often considered the greatest performance of all time, but the story behind it is not as smooth as everyone thinks". Here is that phenomenal lineup for the Saturday:

  • Phil Collins (with Julian Lennon)
  • Sting (with Howard Jones)
  • Bryan Ferry
  • Paul Young (with Alison Moyet)
  • U2
  • Dire Straits
  • Queen
  • David Bowie
  • The Who
  • Elton John

And here's an interview with John Deacon about the famous show:
