We had a chat with Dekel from VoicAs, who gave us a look at the new Deskpressor, a stereo compressor designed with live performance in mind. Building on the LEDpresser module, the Deskpressor adds fully analog compression with digital control, offering both VCA and diode-based compression paths.
You can switch between feedforward and feedback modes to change the character of the compression--punchy and direct or smoother and rounder. Additional features include onboard EQ (high and low), adjustable overdrive, and a customizable sidechain filter with six user presets. There's also a headphone amp, USB-C for firmware updates, and planned plugin/iPad control via Bluetooth or Wi-Fi.
A standout live feature allows you to limit gain reduction to prevent vocal mic suppression when bass-heavy elements hit. A preset system lets you store and recall settings per song. Voicas aims to ship in 3–4 months, targeting a price of around $700.
