When it comes to 90's ROMplers, programmable PCM sound cards are nothing new. I've played around with making PCM cards for the Korg 01/W using an old Mitsubishi 1MB PC Card & some old Windows 95 software - more modern efforts by folks like Sector101 and WaveREX let you flash new cards using newer operating systems and USB (sometimes requiring a proprietary programmer doohickey) but overall, work well - pop the card out, program it, and then return it to the machine.
Well what if the programming process could be sped up with modern wireless tech? The clearly talented Connor Zheng, has designed a new card for the Roland JV/XV series that is entirely programmed via Wi-Fi - whilst the card is still in the machine!

Decided that Super Soundset is less than super? Log on to a special web address and change that sucker out! (Probably for SR JV-04, amirite?) One thing to note is that with more than one card installed you should turn off the Wi-Fi so that the synth's PSU is not overworked, but still, very cool!

There are 3 options: Always on, Wi-Fi off with BLE wakeup, Wireless all off.
Connor has just announced on Gearspace that a second batch of cards has just become available. For more info, including a compatibility chart, please see https://www.ddzheng.cc/?page_id=666
The current price for a single SR-JV WI-Fi expansion is apparently $55, not including shipping.
