Many people have been effected in many ways by the wildfires in LA, ranging from evacuation, loss of property and loss of life. Its a tragic situation. News has come in via the Los Angeles Times, that renowned music producer and engineer Bob Clearmountain, celebrated for his work with artists including Bruce Springsteen and The Rolling Stones, has lost his home and studio.
Driving back from Apogee Studios, he first saw the fires then later a call from his daughter led to a hasty exit with all he could pack into three cars, leaving his home and studio he has built up over many years to an uncertain fate. A neighbour returned a few days later to find the gates to the driveway of his home and a just pile of ashes remaining. Most of the houses in the area had suffered a similar fate.
I can't really look back. I can't spend too much time being bummed out about it. I've got to say, 'OK, what can I do?' I'm going to change the style of what I do. I'm gonna do what I do, but do it differently, and hopefully it'll be good, maybe better than what I was doing. That's all I can think right now.
Many studio owners are in a similar situation and don't have the resources of Clearmountain to rebuild, there are various funds being set up to try and help, notably NAMM (where we hope to be in a week's time) have set up a donation fund, kicking it off with $50k

We hope all our friends and colleagues are safe.
