Crazy Tube Circuits has launched the Heatseeker, a dual preamp/enhancer and amp-in-a-box pedal that they say delivers the iconic tones inspired by Angus Young's legendary gear setup. The Heatseeker continues Crazy Tube Circuits' December tradition of dual pedals inspired by legendary setups, following on from the Unobtanium, Hi Power, and Crossfire. This is what they have to say about it...
For Those About To Rock.
- Inspired directly from the gear setup used by Angus Young, it features the most important sonic elements to match the tone of the short-pants-rock-God:
- Right Side: A meticulous re-creation of the preamp and tone enhancer circuit from the Schaffer Vega Diversity System. This circuit tightens lower frequencies, boosts midrange, and enhances dynamic response and harmonics, ensuring a punchy, mix- cutting tone.
- Left Side: An all-analog simulation of the preamp and power amp sound of three iconic Marshall amplifiers – JTM45, 1959 Super Lead, and JMP 2203. With a wide array of controls, including a three-band EQ, presence, master volume, and amp voicing toggles, this section offers everything from clean tones to roaring distortion.
Further Highlights
- The Heatseeker utilizes an all-analog JFET circuit, running on 27 volts via an internal voltage boost to ensure excellent clean-to-mean dynamic response,
- Wall of Sound (WoS): Imagine standing in front of a wall loaded with Marshall amp heads and 4x12 speaker cabinets, grabbing your SG and hitting a chord. The WoS switch expands the soundstage with enhanced output, thundering lows, and rich high mids.
- Passive Effects Loop: Connect your beloved pedals between the preamp/enhancer and amp-in-a-box circuit or use the two sections as separate and independent effects when using an external bypass switcher/looper.
