Here's this months roundup:

Lee Affen (Affen Audio)

Live score of John Noel's 1922 film 'Climbing Mount Everest' to be performed November 22nd:

We're currently in the studio writing the score to be performed for Kendal Mountain Festival in November. Gear used for the score: Sequential Trigon 6, Pro 3, Novation SL Mk3, Push 3, Soma Cosmos, Eventide effects and guitars all running through Ableton for syncing/program change purposes. There are two of us. Myself and Audiotrip (Ferenc Gyemant). It's a bold modern score to a silent film which will be performed live.

A groundbreaking World Premiere of John Noel's classic 1922 film accompanied by a newly commissioned film score, performed live in the venue by the composers Lee Affen and Ferenc Gyemant.

Climbing Mount Everest (1922) was the first film ever shot on Everest. The brainchild of the cinematographer John Noel, it used pioneering camera techniques and filmed high on the mountain, hoping to capture footage of a successful ascent of the mountain. But on the 7 June 1922 tragedy struck and an avalanche on the North Col killed seven Sherpa and Bhotia porters, bringing the expedition to an abrupt end.

Sounds like a wonderful project to be part of - and some tasty gear to soundtrack with! Tickets and all the details available here: https://tickets.kendalmountainfestival.com/schedule/668e8806ebdb1b006a30fb4f

Fuzzy Sine Waves - Analogue Solutions Impulse Command:

As a cash strapped musician during the first Covid 19 lockdown the NZ government, (Jacinda Ardern), offered me a tax bonus for lost earnings so of course I spent it on another synth, The Analogue Solutions "Impulse Command", I contacted Tom Carpenter about a custom built version that replaced the "Aggro" knob with a "Pandemic" knob, as you can hear, it audibly increases the viral load.

What a chompy, stompy track - great stuff! Some serous analogue sounds here; turn up the Pandemic! We're big fans of the Impulse Command!

I've built the case, but what to fill it with? Behringer ARP 2500:

Having pre-ordered RS-9 from Behringer, I'm thinking of 8 drum voices & a dual sample trigger thing too, mixed into Bluebox Modular 1010. I'm thinking of the SixtyFour Pixels Noodlebox for my synth seq. but that won't be in the rack. I prefer to write groove & melody rather than improvise. Many utilities, new filters & envs too. I'm in no rush but aiming for mid next year depending on the modules I actually buy. Along with my SL49 & midi Disting EX, it should be good. I'll document the journey on my YouTube channel. :)

A collection of lovely ominous tones with a nice explanation of whats going on - we're looking forward to seeing your Modular journey continue!
