We spoke to Bastien from Syntonie at Superbooth 2023 and he showcased their visual synthesizer, which works on the same principle as an audio synthesizer but produces higher bandwidth video signals. They use oscillators to produce patterns, which can be changed by modulating the frequency of the oscillator. The synthesizer has three signals for the RGB components of the picture and by wave shaping and filtering it, different color shades can be produced. The synthesizer is also capable of processing video from a camera and can reduce the number of possible colors using a quantizer, which can be CV modulated. The synthesizer is available for purchase as separate modules or DIY PCB sets.
Syntonie's visual synthesizer combines the principles of audio and visual synthesis. By using a range of oscillators and modulating frequencies, they are able to produce various color shades and patterns, making it perfect for visual art and live performance. Their synthesizer is available for purchase as separate modules or DIY PCB sets and can also process video from a camera. Check out their website to learn more about the product and where it is available for purchase.
