Looking Back At 20 Years Of Ableton Live

US A retrospective look at its development history      08/03/21

Youtuber Julian Gray has been using Ableton since version 8 and as he had a few old Apple Macs lying around, he figured he'd try every version ever released! With some registration help from the Ableton team, he talks about the genesis of Ableton Live in Berlin as well as its growth, developmental history and key features.

He refers to a number of articles which detail the formation of the software and goes over the design and innovations which may not have always been well received. Additions like the Push, Ableton Link, audio to MIDI conversion, randomisation and Max4Live are all covered. From the early days of trade shows to market dominance, it's a fascinating story of gradual growth, intuitive design and attention to detail.

Julian's website is here.
