Modular Synth Experience In Virtual Reality

US SynthVR virtual modular is now available      01/02/21

42tones tells us that SynthVR, which they describe as a virtual reality music production app that brings space and physical feel to the digital modular experience, is now available. Here's the details direct from the company...

Getting started with modular synths isn't easy. Learning how they work is hard, but finding the needed cash and storage space is even harder. After years in the making at 42tones, SynthVR, a fresh new take on virtual modular is now available to everyone. Based on the Eurorack standard and reimagined for virtual reality, SynthVR offers an exciting and accessible path into the world of modular synth music. It comes packed with studio-quality synth modules including oscillators, sequencers, effects, logic and more. As you reach out to place your virtual modules, you realize how VR enables you to create music spaces that are otherwise impossible - Racks, modules and speakers floating in the air around you.

The app was announced and made publicly available as a prerelease last summer. Since then, a community with hundreds of synth enthusiasts has rallied around it. That is why there are already over 100 community-built patches available to try at launch using SynthVR's in-app patch sharing functionality.

Daniel Rothmann, creator of SynthVR, says "I am so grateful to everyone in our online community of VR synth nerds - They have played an integral part in shaping SynthVR into a music production app that is fun, exciting and powerful." Targeted towards experienced electronic musicians, Daniel hopes SynthVR will be among the first wave of VR apps to become serious creative tools for artists. All modules are built for studio-quality signal processing and the app comes with advanced audio recording capabilities.

Key features:

  • Fully modular signal flow
  • 30+ synth modules to play with
  • Easily share and discover new creations online
  • Control signals run at audio rate
  • Animate the environment with your sounds
  • Multichannel audio recording options
  • Unlimited supply of bleeps and bloops

Pricing and Availability:
SynthVR is available now for $24.99 and supports major VR headsets such as Oculus Quest, Oculus Rift, Valve Index and HTC Vive.
