New Concept In Eurorack Rhythm Sequencing

US Flux uses Temporal Modulation Synthesis to go beyond quantized rhythms      21/02/20

IOLabs has introduced Flux which they say has introduced a new concept in rhythm sequencing for Eurorack, the Temporal Modulation Synthesis algorithm. They tell us that each Flux sequencer step can range from 1-64 16ths with a density of between 1-64 triggers per step. Once step length and density are selected, Flux can bend time with Temporal Modulation Synthesis. TM Synthesis applies a curvature to time, creating rhythms by modulating the linearity of trigger distribution within a sequencer step with TM Curves.

TM curves can select a curvature ranging from -10 to +10 in 0.01 increments (2000 possible curvatures). Positive curvature values produce logarithmic responses, negative values produce exponential responses and a curvature of 0 results in linear spacing. 16 TM steps can be sequenced per channel, each with unique length, density, curve and curvature parameters. FLUX uses an Arm Cortex M7 processor allowing internal 64-bit double-precision floating point math to calculate rhythms with an extremely high degree of precision.

A spokesperson told us, "With Flux, true Euclidean rhythms, polyrhythms and complex rhythmic patterns are extremely easy to program and wide ranging in scope!"
