Sonocurrent, a new developer of synthesizer modules for the Eurorack format, has announced the M T2D dual triode distortion, which they say offers two channels of distinctive Nutube-based distortion with extensive controls and versatile sound-shaping capabilities. This is what they have to say about it...
The two channels of the M T2D can be patched separately for parallel processing, stereo, or multiple sources, or used in series via convenient internal normalling for more complex distortion of a single source. Each channel of the M T2D features independent adjustment of an internal tilt filter at each input, tube bias, drive level, feedback level, and dry/wet mix. The bias and dry/wet mix parameters can also be voltage-controlled separately for each channel. Switchable plate voltage allows selection between smoother overall distortion, or a lower clipping threshold for more extreme effects. The resulting distortion can range from subtle saturation to severe clipping, feedback drones, and complete signal breakup.
The use of a Nutube for the triode gain stages offers the sound character of a tube while maintaining a modest current consumption of 111mA and 65mA, at +12V and -12V, respectively. The M T2D occupies an 18HP width, with careful attention to performance ergonomics and a logical, accessible interface.
Pricing and Availability:
Sonocurrent will be showing early production units of the M T2D at Superbooth 2019, booth E261, from 09-11 May at FEZ-Berlin. The M T2D is expected to be available at dealers by the end of May, at a price of $375 (USD).
