When Roland first announced the collaboration between them and Malekko Industries to make some true analogue modules which were based around the original System 100M modules, it was quite a big deal as Roland’s forward only strategy meant that this was the first time they’d "gone back" to original analogue designs.

The original modules had some production issues, which meant that availability was patchy. This has all been fixed with a change in the production which takes the final assembly to Japan.

Also, there are four new modules which expand the range:

  • 510 is a VCO, VCF and VCA
  • 505 - a dual filter based on the legendary SH-5 filter, one multi-mode and one bandpass
  • 555 - Sample and Hold/Lag Generator LFO and Ring Mod
  • 531 - 6 channel mixer with mute buttons and CV control of pan

David Åhlund, European Product Specialist came down to show us what they can do.

The modules are becoming available  shortly priced at:
510 and 531 at £389, and the 505 and 555 at £349.

The case David was using is also available priced at £319.
