Elka Synthex Funding Project Ended

Buying Choices

We all got a bit excited the news of the Finnish company who after buying up General Music,  announced they intended to bring back the legendary Elka Synthex - weapon of choice for JMJ amongst others.

Not that we weren't delighted at the prospect, but the notion that it was to be rebuilt from partly original components left us somewhat puzzled. The thought of a big ol' poly synth for modern times possibly requiring the same level of servicing to keep it alive as it's vintage counterparts, didn't quite make sense.

However, the cost per synth at around $3,181 (according to the Indiegogo offers) for a single unit, was not as high as we expected. Sure it was still pricey, but when you consider the used cost, it seems reasonable.

Sadly, the Indiegogo fundraising project  has not reached its goal of $414,000 USD and appears to have now ended - unfunded and from the looks of it abandoned.

Looks like it won't be coming back this time, anyone fund one?

Thanks to jwins for the spot
