Ableton have just announced availability of a new pair of instruments made using MAX For Live. The devices are made by pack partner Max For Cats. The two devices are Ensemble, a string synth emulation and DiGiTAL - a polysynth based around Additive, Wavetable, FM and Subtractive synthesis.

Its interesting to see how complex devices can be created using the MAX For Live environment, we seem to be approaching a simillar area of creative virtual electronics you can find in Nitvie Instrument's Reaktor.

Ensemble is based on the classic string machines of the 1970s with a moprhing filter and chorus and phaser effects.

DiGiTAL - features two multi-mode oscillators, with a user drawable additive wave mode, plus twin LFOs and twin mulit-mode filters. Four ADSR envelopes

Both are currently on special offer at €20 each (reduced from €29). You will need Ableton live 9.1 and Max for Live to run.
