We did see this one at NAMM at the start of the year, where they were stuggling to perform under the hard lights of the convention centre. But here in London at the PLASA show, Smitshon Martin on the GMP Design Associates booth (the UK distributor), had a black tent affair, making the whole experience extremely impressive.

Essentially EMULATOR, provides a front end for creating multi-touch interfaces for existing MIDI controllable software. With a new modular editor enabling the design of custom interfaces, its possible to overlay your own control set while showing parts of the program if you wish (in thius case the Traktor waveform display is shown).

In this demo Alan Smithson (its creator) uses NI's Traktor - DJ software, you can see the potential for some really great looking performances.

The system demonstrated here, comprises of the software package EMULATOR (£299) plus this 42 inch glass screen, stand plus projector its a great looking setup. (approx £5k)

Obviously in daylight things start to get tricky, but Emulator have designed a system that used to LED TV's back to back for the same functionality, but true daylight operation - this should be coming soon.

The potential for live performance using existing software sequences, effects etc is virtually limitless, I wouldnt be at all surprised if they get a call from Bjork sometime soon.
