Daniel Hansson 3rd Sept 1974 - 19th August 2007
Sad, sad news indeed. Daniel Hansson was the force behind Elektron's excellent instruments. Instruments which have become some of the most desirable for electronic and dance music creators. He died following a car accident on August 19th 2007 and will be missed by many. Most people cite his unwavering enthusiasm for the instruments and their application, even after many years in the business (no mean feat!). My first hardware review here on Sonicstate was of the Machinedrum, I think he gave us the web exclusive, and he was extremely helpful and good fun too. Always shy of the camera, we could never persuade him into talking to us at the shows, even though he was a great communicator and - if I may be so bold, a handsome devil! My last communication with him (May 2007) was to let him know of a video featuring the Monomachine - he said " Really cool indeed! :)". Our condolences go to his family, friends and work colleagues. In a statement on the Elektron website
"..we (Elektron) will continue to make cutting-edge instruments, the way Daniel would have wanted" Instructions for donations and messages of condolence are posted on the Elektron site.
