JOEMEEK were showing the new TwinQcs Dual Studio Channel, a dual channel combination of mic–preamp with 3-band discrete EQ (Meequalizer) and optical compressor. The unit features JOEMEEKS’ innovative ’CurrentSense’ mic amp design that the boffins on the stand were pretty excited about. Apparently, the amp can optimise itself to the mic you plug in, allowing the impedence to be matched perfectly. This feature alone makes it compatible with highly sensitive ribbon mics that usually require specific (and very pricey) amps for best results. Another benefit of the new technology is that you won’t get thumps or pops should you accidentally yank out the cable. The TwinQcs can be futher enhanced with the addition of the VC1QD – a 96Khz/24-bit capable switchable digital interface with S/PDIF output. So if you’re looking for a recording input for your digital system, this may be the unit for you. Shipping now, the TwinQcs retails for £799 (+/-$1000)
