New Synths From Våld Labs

Våld Labs tells us that they are focused on slightly less conventional approaches to synthesis, sequencing and instrument design, with an emphasis on making mathematically or technically unusual systems still feel immediate and musical. Here's what they have to say about their latest releases...

Vekte -- an algorithmic MIDI sequencer built around deterministic pattern generation, polymetric structures and multiple generative systems. The idea is to create complex musical variation while keeping patterns completely reproducible and shareable.

Tresse -- a dual-layer synthesizer built around an expanded set of synthesis engines, including Plaits-derived engines alongside a number of additional Våld Labs engines, with polyphony, modulation, generative sequencing and expanded filtering.

There are also two newer instruments currently in public beta:

Kurare is a swarm synthesizer based around coupled oscillator behaviour inspired by the Kuramoto model. Each part can contain up to 32 oscillators per voice, with two independent swarms, wavetable shaping and controls for moving between more chaotic and synchronized behaviour.

Ravik is an 8-channel drum and percussion synthesizer using synthesized percussion rather than samples, with a mixture of conventional and more experimental synthesis engines.
