Decent Samper Libraries Last Week of Savings

Decent Samples has entered the final week of introductory pricing on over:tone, the guitar harmonics instrument released earlier this month with Venus Theory. It is $29 until the end of the week, after which it returns to its regular $59.

The instrument comes from Dave Hilowitz, the developer behind Decent Sampler and the Decent Samples store, working alongside the Venus Theory channel. It is built from 50 different sound sources - electric guitars, acoustics, cellos and basses, run through a range of analog and digital outboard effects - loaded into a playable instrument. You can combine up to three layers, or start from one of the 50 included presets, which cover ground from bell-like guitar harmonics through to ominous bass drones and characterful pads.

A free edition is also available, so you can get a feel for it before deciding whether it is worth the $29.

Alongside the promotion, Dave has published a new video on the FM-1, a full FM synthesizer costing $67, and on FM synthesis in general - the glassy electric pianos, metallic bells and basses that cut through a mix, plus his own complicated relationship with that particular palette of sounds.
