Since the last coverage, the Terrain Synth now includes a developed patch set, a Favourite section and expanded effects routing. The effects menu offers multiple topologies; previously, the four effects slots ran only in series. The synth also includes FM-style sounds, harmonic and inharmonic processing, overdrive and distortion in some patches, plus a built-in vector synth that sweeps through four voices.
The Terrain engine works like a table-based oscillator, but the sound is traced by complex paths rather than a single wavetable line. Parameters are modulatable, with an LFO and envelope available per parameter. The graphics show the terrain, vector movement and harmonic behaviour directly.
The Kickstarter price is $999 for around six to eight weeks, then retail pricing moves to $1199. Shipping is expected in about six weeks.
