At Superbooth 2026 Justin from Ferry Island Modular introduced two new modules: Undertow and Beacon and new firmware for Four Seas offering some excellent new functionalities including polyphony.
Undertow is a modulation-focused oscillator and LFO system built around a two-dimensional wavetable concept, using a 5×3 CV matrix to generate multiple related modulation outputs from a single structure. Rather than producing one waveform at a time, it creates a set of interconnected signals that can vary in both waveform shape and frequency across a grid, with additional modulation shaping applied vertically to move between more stable and more complex motion.
Beacon is a compact stereo VCA and low-pass gate designed around a "pingable" response inspired by vactrol behaviour. When triggered, it produces a natural rise and decay characteristic of optical circuits, with additional tonal variation introduced through an OTA-based character stage. It can operate as either a standard VCA or in LPG mode, offering two slightly different response types depending on configuration, and includes a character control for further shaping of the overall sound.
