Hainbach And Audio Thing Octaves Bandpass Filter
US
Classic B&K tesat equipment 15/04/26
Hainbach has released a new plugin with Audio Thing that emulates a Brüel & Kjaer 1613, a 2kg piece of test gear once used for "portable" use when combined with a a2203/2204 sound level meter for checking noise levels.
Essentially its a passive bandpass switchable filter with unique characteristics.
Its a piece of hardware Hainbach uses in the studio (one of his worst kept sound design secrets!) and now you can access the sounds i can create it via the new Octaves Plugin.
They've modeled the original hardware with all of its foibles, including poorly serviced switch clicking, and added some additional features.
Exact emulation of a passive octave filter, originally built with massive metal coils for each frequency band
"Pinging" capabilities: use the "artifacts" control to creatively exploit switching clicks or pair with pulses to create percussion
Hidden "back panel" offers an impedance knob that functions as a resonance control and can turn the unit into a full filter bank
Input, output, mix, and soft saturation controls allow you to overdrive the circuit for added color
Oversampling options (up to 4x) to manage CPU load and aliasing artifacts
Cross-platform support: macOS, Windows, Linux (VST3/AU/CLAP) and iOS/iPadOS (AUv3)
